Large limited edition print from a hand coloured lithograph of Gallus Lafayettii (Sri Lankan junglefowl) by Joseph Wolf for a Monograph of the Phasianidae (Family of Pheasants) published in 1870-72. The Sri Lankan junglefowl is closely related to the Red Junglefowl from which the domestic chicken was developed. D.G Elliot was the curator of the Field Museum of Chicago and was one of the leading naturalists and ornithologists of the 19th century.
